My favorite day of the Month! Workshop!

I always say, Workshop day is my favorite day of the month!  (There should be a workshop monthly because they are always FULL)  The 1pm line in the sand is another tie that binds council from really digging in

  1. CDBG-DR Program manager presentation for disaster recovery.  NOTHING in ON BASE?
  2. Midyear Budget Review—NOTHING in ON BASE?  This is typical of the Revenue and Finance department, they generally don’t want send it out before a meeting.  Doesn’t that kind of defeat the purpose?
  3. Social Arts and Action Fund discussion for TCC- Nothing in ON BASE – assuming that TCC is guiding their discussion only.
  4. Discussion to convert the Convention Center to an enterprise fund, how does that work with the Downtown CRA?  Personally, I’ve always seen the Convention Center being more squared away with their budget planning than other departments.  They seem to operate in such a way that they break even which many of our departments seem to shy away from.  It looks like it is making SOME money but if I recall we just did an additional bond for the CC?
  5. Update on the digital signs for downtown.  Man oh Man has it been painfully slow process.  It’s my understanding that the $200k for land use attorney’s last week are working on signs, not sure if this is part of the signs or if it is for all the signs through out the COT.  NOTHING IN ON BASE but the Downtown Partnership doesn't work for TCC?
  6. Council discussion about staff presenting when documents and presentations being uploaded in ON BASE—Well, let’s start with the first three things on the agenda today!
  7. Goodness, I know Council NEEDS to discuss this but does that mean that all the people who are showing out AGAIN?  I mean seriously, TCC can’t make any decisions about the matter.  If Mr. Babby comes to answer questions that would be ideal, but do we need 50-60 people to come on the matter?  Not really.  IF everyone comes to speak AGAIN, then TCC should ask each of them if they will make money, hope to make money, have made money on this deal…before they open their mouths.  I’d also like to see someone ask them all if they are taxpayers in the COT?
