Workshop Review 2/26/26
February 26, 2026
- The health of Tampa’s pension funding – There is a memo requesting a presentation but NO presentation. Why not?
- CIT tax renewal information- can we use it to offset some of the bonding? No presentation for this item?
- Bonding capacity-- The one from last year is attached. 52 pages from last year, since that has been submitted, I’d like to see some side by side comparisons BEFORE they present the new stuff. I guess we’ll see when it gets presented on Thursday. NO presentation
- Limited times for message signs on electronic billboards on large venues, Mr. Massey says that it is a breech of 1st Amendment…but is it if it is done throughout the entire city for all electronic signs? Will the COT receive any revenue from allowing these signs?
- Investigate the usage of seawalls or docks in residential areas for commercial purposes- staff will present to discuss
- Should be heard with 7-- CODE OF ETHICS REVIEW--- especially after the October fiasco, you'd think they'd have everything uploaded and ready to go?
- 6/7. 6/7, 6/7…. Nothing in ON BASE to go with either item… the most obviously missing item is the RIDICULOUS update of the code that someone thought was a good idea last year. The documents submitted for 10/23/25 aren’t uploaded, there is NOTHING in there. How can you workshop something that hasn’t been submitted for the record to staff and the citizens. YES, I know when it was uploaded but that doesn’t mean it is readily available to all citizens as it should be in ON BASE!!
- Written report on digital signs downtown. A nice report but it would seem it goes with
#4, which if they have a 1st amendment right to display on the side
of buildings…can we really say if they have the sign there or not?
